ARE WE FLOATING IN SOMEONE’S SPACE?

What is in space? Is it darkness or light? As much as we may think about it, space is not a destination but a space between here and there. Here I am sure of, for I can stand on it with my feet and feel the wind in my face. But on the other side, I am not too sure. I do not know what is there, who is there, and how it is there. When I lift my eyes to the sky, I do wonder not at the rocks and gases strewn here and there, but at what lies at the other end of the space between here and there.

The scientist and the oracles of today’s technological advances have stated clearly that the stars that we see are billions of light-years away from us. That is a scary thought. Every discovery implies that it may take longer and longer to get to the other end of this space between us and the other side.

What am I saying? Nothing but the simple thought that the concept of space if clearly understood simply means the expanse between two things or places. But is that how we generally understand space? I do not think so. Applying the understanding of space to the idea of space creates a complicated situation in the mind. What do I mean?

We are forced to ask when talking about space that; “is earth point “a” and the other place point “b”. Or is earth just floating in “space” itself?

If it is the former, that is earth is the point “a” and there is this other point “b” which we do not know, then the implication is that the expanse of the earth is the endpoint of the space between point “b” out there and earth. That also means that besides the sides of the earth there should be no other space or should there be any other space under the earth. Again, if the space we see is as wide as we imagine it with our natural and artificial eyes, then we can assume that space is a kind of “cone” shape space from the perspective of earth. I use cone shape in quotes because we do not yet know the size and state or nature of the endpoint of the other end of the space between earth and point “b”.

The above thought if true or so, raises a more concerning or complex thought. The idea or possibility that the earth then cannot be round and floating in space as indicated and explained by our modern knowledge. Well I know many of us cannot accept that as a possibility. The earth is round and that is what science proves. if the earth is round and is proven so by science, then we are forced to accept that, our space situation is the latter. That is, the earth is floating in space. At this point then, the question to ask again is, in “what” or “whose” space is the earth floating in? whose point “a” to point “b” are we floating in. It also means that all the stars and rocks we see are floating in that same person, or thing’s space. Whose space is it, for we cannot be floating in our own space?

When I look out at space, the darkness at one point and the light at another point, I simply wonder what is at the other end of my space and in whose space am I floating. When I desire to take a rocket and fly out of this earth, the question on my mind is, will I be allowed into another person’s space or will I traverse my own space?
