Man and woman face looking into the dark

STRUGGLING TO BE LOVED?

Who is making a case? Is it us humans or is it God in heaven. Who has something to prove or must prove something? Is it us the human beings or is it God? Who is pursuing who? Is it us the humans pursuing God or is it God pursuing us? The correct and rightful answer to the above questions will radicalize your Christian life, or as we say your faith. So let’s take a look at the questions one by one and see if we can attempt to answer them.

Now, who has a case to prove and for what or to what end? Are we the humans the ones trying to make a case for God to accept us or its God who has to make a case for us to believe in him? If it is God who has to make a case for us to have faith in him, why then are we struggling to make a case or prove worthy of God. In order words are we the ones to prove God exists or it’s God who must prove that he exists? Upon whom is the onus to prove they exist? To better understand the issue we have to look at the way God has been presented to us and after ask who stands to gain in that light and see if they work together.

For many of us, God has been presented to us from the book of Genesis as we men falling or sinning against God who created us and being sacked from the Garden of Eden. From the above perspective its man who has wrong God and must turn towards God. For that reason man must prove his worth to God to be accepted by God or to regain and enter back into a relationship with God. From the above then it looks as if and that we must make a case before God. So what’s this case that is required of us by God or the Bible or as we have been taught? Well the case is that, we must believe on the Lord Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour and we shall be saved. In other words we have to acknowledge our sins, accept them and repent from them in order to be accepted back by God or back into the family of God.

But then thinking critically about it, who will loose if we don’t get back into the family of God? I mean to whom does it matter most, the disobedient son or the Creator Father who has lost his son? Well we have lost paradise, so we have to go searching for it or seeking after it right?

Well, as strange as it may look or it may seem, if you read further into the Bible, and the acts of God it rather looks like it will be more beneficial to God to have his children back. And right so it has to be, for practically thinking about it, he is the one who has lost his creation and it’s upon the creator to seek his creation not the creation to seek its creator. We did not loose God, God lost us.

And it is for that reason that you will find that, throughout the scripture somehow and strangely it is always God who comes looking for man. Indeed, in the most expressive form of love shown, the Bible states that for God so loved man. Not for man so loved God. Again as I have written somewhere else, if you study the Old Testament very well and God’s relationship with Israel it does seem like God is the one constantly trying to get Israel back on track. And why so, because, he has lost his creation. So, who is making a case, the one who says he loves or the one is being loved?

The second question is, who has something to prove, or must prove something? Well I think this is most obvious, man has nothing to prove. Man doesn’t have to prove anything to God. That he is man? It seems once again that in this instance too it is God who has to prove that he is God. After all he is the one asking that we have faith in him or believe on him to be saved. So if one part is asking that faith be placed in him, then it’s that party that has to prove that he is worthy of that faith.

In the same light, to whom do we have to prove that God is God? To ourselves? Are we the ones to convince ourselves that God is God? I must say here that I think this is a place where a number of Christians are struggling. Struggling hard to prove to themselves and convince themselves that God exists. And they are failing miserably or constantly bugged down one way or the other with doubts, questions and frustrations as they constantly fight hard to convince themselves of God’s existence based upon their expectation of him and questions in their head unanswered.

Am I the one to prove to myself that God exists in order to believe in him or its God that has to prove that he exists in order for me to believe in him. Once again I will ask you to turn your eyes to the scriptures and relook at them and you will notice how much God goes out of his way to convince us that he is God. It’s so glaring when you see it in the scriptures that you actually come to the place of wonder and question as to, why at all is he going out of the way just to prove that he is God for mortals like us? Maybe, either he really loves us that much, or we must be important to him or he needs to prove something to someone. So once again who is making a case, the one asking to be believed in or the one doing the believing?

Finally there is the question of, who is pursuing who? I think this is very clear. We are not pursuing God, at least from the little I know, we are just seeking him because of what we can get from him. Mark it, if there was no benefit to be derived from serving God, I am sure many a man or woman will not even waste their time to think upon him. As it is said for some Christians they run to God because of the fear of hell, they please God to escape the imagined or promised judgment or punishment. Others come to God because of what he is supposed to give them. That is, answer their prayers. When me get an alternative solution many hardly go back to God. After all to some it’s such a difficult thing pleasing a perfect God that if what they are seeking from God can be provided by a lesser demanding source, they run to it.

That said, and back to the issue, who actually is pursuing the other? I have showed why we are pursuing God, because of what we can benefit from him. The question is why is God pursuing us? Because as it looks apparently there is nothing God can gain from us? I mean what does he need us for? He doesn’t need us to be complete, he doesn’t need us to be God, and he doesn’t need us to survive or exist. I mean on all grounds God has no need of man. So why is he pursuing us? Is it because he just loves us or he actually has nothing else to do in this world or universe? Obviously the most acceptable answer is that he loves us. So if God really loves us, who must do the work to be accepted, we or God

At this point we have to ask a question, if God is the one making a case, he is the one proving he is God and the one pursuing us, why are we struggling so much to get to know him? I mean how difficult is it for God to find you and I, draw us back to himself and get us into his net? Again we ask which mortal can stand against or go contrary to God, his power and is love when it comes upon you? Even if one says he doesn’t force himself upon us, what of his power over all things or his great love that conquers all hearts and will? Are we saying that there are mortals in earth who have enough power to resist God or to escape his love?

If not why is it that all men have not come to God or been drawn into his power and love or become his children? But even before you take me on a theological lecturer on free will and all that God cannot do even though he is God and the most powerful being in this world, pause and ask you yourself, you who are trying, struggling hoping and seeking God, why are you all still struggling to make a case, convince and pursue God? For a moment forget those stubborn hearts that do not love or believe in God. Let’s look at the hearts that are willing and seeking God. Why are they struggling to be accepted by a God who loves them, is doing everything to make a case, convince them he loves them and is constantly seeking a pursuing them?

Why are you struggling to be loved by a God that is doing everything to love you. Something is wrong somewhere. Someone is not telling you the truth or you are not accepting the truth or you don’t know the truth.
